Internet Over Beer For College Students

0 Vote down Vote up

A majority of college folks may agree: Two things you need in order to survive through your college education would be internet Wi-Fi access and beer…perhaps even more of the latter, or even simultaneous consumption. However, a poll by the Wi-Fi Alliance shows that nearly 50% of college students would give up beer first over Wi-Fi.

“Wi-Fi has become a universal expectation among college students, and their attitudes towards technology are a good indicator of broad changes underway in how we as a society learn, work and communicate," said by executive director Edgar Figueroa. Some of the info on the poll shows the following:

  • If forced to choose, nearly half of respondents (48 percent) would give up beer before giving up Wi-Fi.
  • More than two in five (44 percent) used Wi-Fi to get a head start on an assignment before a class was finished.
  • More than half have checked Facebook™ or MySpace™ and sent or received e-mail while using their laptop in class. Just under half sent instant messages to a friend during class.

Procrastination wasn’t represented in the polls, perhaps as it may show a unanimous response. Stay in school kids.
